Our Approach
Let’s hear more about
Comprehensive Assessment
The comprehensive assessment involves the evaluation of the child's emotional, adaptive functioning skills, cognitive, and behavioral functioning. This assessment may include standardized psychological tests, interviews with parents and caregivers, and observations of the child's behavior. By understanding the child's strengths, challenges, and unique needs, we create a holistic picture that informs our therapeutic approach.
We use standardised psychological assessments to gather valuable information about the child's cognitive abilities, emotional functioning, adaptive functioning and social skills. These assessments provide essential insights into the child's strengths and areas requiring attention, enabling us to tailor our interventions effectively.
After the assessment
Diagnosis & Formulating Treatment Plans
Based on the assessment findings, we provide a clear diagnosis if necessary and collaborate with the child's caregivers to formulate a personalized treatment plan. Our treatment plans are designed to address specific challenges and promote the child's emotional, social, psychological well-being and independency.
What next
Psychotherapy & Therapeutic Interventions
Our Clinical Psychology services encompass various evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Depending on the individual’s needs and preferences, we may utilize different approaches, including:
Play Therapy
Play therapy is a type of therapy for children where they use toys, games, and art to express their feelings and thoughts. Trained therapists watch their play to understand their emotions and help them with challenges they may be facing. It's a safe and supportive way for children to talk about their feelings and find solutions to their problems. Play therapy can be used to help with various issues and is especially useful for children who may have difficulty expressing themselves with words.
Expressive Therapy
Utilizing various mediums such as arts, sand and lego, allows the children to express themselves beyond words. These modalities can be especially beneficial for individuals with communication challenges or emotional difficulties.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
EMDR is effective for individuals who have experienced trauma or emotional distress. EMDR helps process and resolve traumatic memories, leading to healing and emotional growth.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a widely used approach that helps individuals to identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours. It equips them with coping skills to manage emotions and challenges more effectively.
Individualised social communication skills training for autistics and neurodevelopmental challenged individuals
This a targeted and personalized approach focusing on understanding the core concepts and principles in social communication, addressing not only the superficial social skills but looking in-depth into their thought processing and inference skills. Mastery of social communication skills improves family and individual’s quality of life, improving mental health and reduce emotional difficulties such as depression and anxiety.
Behavioural Support
Behavioural support refers to a therapeutic approach that helps individuals with challenging behaviours like temper tantrums, self-harm and aggression towards others. It focuses on understanding the reasons behind these behaviours and provides acute management and long-term interventions. We support individuals by creating a positive environment and using co-regulation techniques. Rather than eliminating challenging behaviours without addressing their underlying causes, we work on teaching and reinforcing replacement behaviours that serve the same purpose but in a more adaptive and positive manner.
